About Me

When I was a kid, my dad told me a story about ants building a bridge to cross lava; my mom told me a story about the princess going to bed—the end! These two strikingly different stories helped push me toward my passion for creative writing and editing.

If you also like either of these two things, then you just might like my website.

While my first stories were rife with errors, my newer ones have benefited from studying English and Copy Editing at UC Santa Barbara; you can see some of these stories right here in my blog posts or in my portfolio!

All the unique and bizarre grammar rules I've learned from school has taught me to keep a critical eye open when I scan through the marks on a page. Sometimes that misplaced apostrophe is part of the creativity, and sometimes it was just forgotten.

However, though I have become more critical of writing, I have also become even more appreciative of writing. Working with other writers in my classes and in my internship with a digital library has taught me that everyone's writing is unique. There is a certain tone and flavor to every person, and that always come across in their writing! You have to preserve that personality when you edit, which means not just having a critical eye, but having a tactful tongue when you leave comments.

Using my critical eye and my tactful tongue has helped me advise other creatives as they worked on making the best piece of art they could. It has been such a delight using my strengths to strengthen others, and I hope that at least some of my writing encourages you to make your own art, too!
